Law Society celebrates 10th year as a GTA Top Employer
“Receiving this honour consecutively for 10 years is a remarkable achievement and I am extremely proud of our employees,” said the Law Society’s Chief Executive Officer, Robert Lapper.
Greater Toronto’s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. Employers are evaluated based on eight criteria and compared to other organizations within the same field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
“As a leading regulator, the Law Society seeks to be a role model for the membership with its diversity initiatives, promotion of women in the workplace, commitment to continuous learning and support of mental health and wellbeing,” said Lapper. “Employees enjoy many opportunities to develop professionally and take on new challenges within the organization.”
Key reasons for the Law Society’s selection include:
- Maternity and parental leave top-up payments to employees who are new mothers, fathers or adoptive parents (up to 93 per cent of salary for 17 weeks). Flexible working arrangements are also offered to help them ease into their new role as parents
- Support of young talent, establishing the Law Society Foundation to raise funds for bursary grants for students-in-need who are pursuing a law degree or admission to the Bar of Ontario
- Compassionate leave top-up payments for employees who are called upon to care for a loved one (up to 70 per cent of salary for 8 weeks)
