Public awareness campaign to launch October 1
Treasurer Malcolm Mercer today announced that the Law Society’s province-wide awareness campaign will kick off on October 1. Designed to generate greater understanding of what the Law Society does and how members of the public can access the right level of legal services when they need them, the campaign was approved by Convocation last February.
“This campaign encourages the public to use the Law Society as a “go-to” place for getting information about legal resources and referrals to lawyers and paralegals,” said the Treasurer. “It also highlights the critical role that the legal professions play in enabling access to legal services for all Ontarians.”
Featuring the theme “Our Society is Your Society,” the first phase of the campaign includes digital, radio, transit and billboard advertising that will reach a wide cross section of Ontario’s population. It will run until December 3.
As an integral part of this initiative to increase accessibility and awareness, the Law Society’s website has been completely redeveloped to launch at the same time as the campaign.
The website has a brand new look and feel that provides a more service-oriented and user-friendly experience for the public and licensees. The lawyer and paralegal directory has also been significantly enhanced.
The Law Society logo has also been updated, to reflect the Law Society’s relevance as a modern regulator and its progressive approach. The three concentric circles of the new logo represent components of the Law Society’s work: the public, the legal professions and the regulatory framework.
The Treasurer encouraged Benchers and licensees to explore the new website and to watch and listen for the awareness campaign in their local areas. He also encouraged everyone to follow and engage in the campaign via social media.
